Shakik was a spy for the Republic in his younger years. After infiltrating the Empire for a couple of years, they began to catch onto him, so he went back to the Republic only to find that they didn’t need him anymore due to some younger hotshot coming in and taking his position. So, he “retired” and settled down on Tatooine where he met Esholdku, a beautiful female Mirialan who worked at a local cantina in Anchorhead. Shortly thereafter, Shakik and Esholdku discovered that he’d accidentally gotten her pregnant during what was supposed to be a one-night stand, and so, because of this accidental child, they decided to get married to save Esholdku’s reputation. Not long after that, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl whom they named Raldani. They hadn’t planned on having a child, obviously, but it had happened and now they were married. Within a couple of years, Raldani has a baby sister, who was planned and is now the pride and joy of the family. This left Raldani to half-fend for herself, being the “accident” of the family. A shameful memory to her parents about the circumstances surrounding her conception. Over the next 5 years, Shakik and Esholdku had 4 more children. This time, all boys with the last two being twins. It wasn’t easy for the two adults to provide for their growing family. Especially since Esholdku was still working at the same cantina, only now as a bartender, and Shakik was taking odds and ends jobs in Anchorhead while starting up a moisture farm. As Raldani grew, she began to note the arguments her parents had on a nearly daily basis. This was partially due to their dwindling finances from Shakik’s moisture farming endeavor and partly because they’d never intended to get married, let alone have children, until Raldani came along, so they never truly loved each other. Even after they were married. By the time Raldani was 10 years old, she had 5, planned, younger siblings and was the one who was always expected to give up some or all of her food so that her younger siblings could eat. As time passed, it became more evident that her role in the family was less that of child or sibling, and more of an inconvenience. The loveless marriage and the lack of income were enough to strain a family even the most normal of circumstances, but this level of pressure was too much for one young lady and would eventually weigh on her to the point she would finally just leave behind what little she had for her siblings and leave home for good. She just could not take the penniless and heartless environment anymore. If she was going to be unloved, at least she would make sure she never had to worry about money again. When she was about 11 years old, she got tired of being hungry and decided to swipe some fruit from a local vendor when they weren’t watching. She nearly got caught but managed to slip away, with the vendor not knowing it was her. In the meantime, the few kids she had become “friends” with, started to laugh at her when her father was fired from yet another job. So, between her home life and her “friends” turning into bullies, she was fed up and started stealing more than just food. Soon enough, she had a little stash of stuff that she had stolen, and she used this stash to start making a few credits here and there, saying that she “found” these items, and selling them to people who needed them. But she had a hard time hiding her stash of items and credits from her parents. But by the time she was in her teens, she had enough credits to get out. During those few short years, though, she had used her skills to steal little bits of food for her little siblings until she finally decided it was time for her to leave. After finally running away at the tender age of 16, Raldani would pay her way off of the planet, leave home. and put her street skills to good use. After having about 5 years of experience, Raldani was on her own and putting those thieving skills to the test. After spending about a month on the Republic Fleet, she found someone who would take her down to the surface of Rishi. She was sure she could find some work there with her skill set, so she wasn’t too worried about making back the little bit of money she had spent getting off of Tatooine and now onto Rishi. Once on the planet’s surface, she managed to find a small corner on the outskirts of the main outpost to make herself a little shack. It wasn’t perfectly waterproof, but it did its job. She began taking small jobs from various locals to earn some credits. After she began earning enough credits, she started to frequent the local cantina, eventually getting herself into a couple of bar fights. Of course, she didn’t have any fighting experience and got herself beat up, but an older male Zabrak nicknamed Venom, took an interest in her and offered to teach her the art of Teräs Käsi. She was hesitant at first, seeing as she was still a child, but she eventually accepted his offer and began training with him regularly until she was finally able to take down the people she’d fought with originally. Not long after, in a failed attempt to steal the loot from a well-known pirate who went by Skinner Nash she was given a choice to join his crew or suffer some consequences. Reluctantly, Raldani agreed. She quickly absorbed their world as her old life on Tatooine finally began to fade into a distant memory. It only took a few years of working for the man before he saw her talents and put her in charge of more important runs, and gave her a crew of 3 to help support her runs. When she was 21, she was sent on a job back to Tatooine. Not long after landing, she decided to take a trip back to her childhood home and see her family, even though they hadn’t cared for her previously. Upon arriving, she found the place ransacked, and the bodies of not just her parents, but all of her younger siblings too, lying on the floor of their home. Sure, she’d seen death before, but the scene before her was a lot for her to handle. She felt almost responsible for their deaths, wondering if they’d still be alive if she hadn’t left home. Soon, she was met by one of their neighbors, who explained that the Empire had come in search of her father and how they had massacred many families in the area. This angered Raldani, knowing that her father had been a spy for the Republic at one time and that now he was dead because the Republic did nothing to help. That was the moment when she decided that she would never side with either the Republic or the Empire after that. She gathered up what she could of some of their old belongings, including her father’s eyepatch and her mother’s favorite vase. Before she left the planet again, she went for a walk through Anchorhead and bumped into a 16-year-old human girl who was on her way to work. After finding out that “work” for the young girl was at the same Cantina her own mother had worked at, she decided to help the girl, whose name was Maelri Tessar. After helping the teenager to gather up her things, she snuck Mae onto her ship and made a “pit-stop” at the Republic fleet to drop her off. Knowing she’d at least be a little safer in the hands of the Republic than the Empire, Raldani helped her sneak off the ship and hide within the fleet before giving her a few extra credits and leaving to go back to Rishi. When she returned to Rishi, she put all of her anger into beginning the process of finding the person who gave the go-ahead to track down and kill her family. For the next two years, she spent all her free time learning how to use explosive rounds, set up explosives, and overall use of pyrotechnics. Slowly, she tracked down and found several of the Imperial soldiers who had been involved and took them out one by one. Each time leaving their burnt corpses lying next to a small street painting of a phoenix. This eventually led to her being called “The Phoenix” by Imperials. Every time she found one, she would wear armor designed to protect herself from not only the flames but also to protect her identity. A couple of years went by, Raldani was sent out on yet another solo job. The job itself was uneventful, but when she got back, she found the place to be under attack from a band of pirates whose bad side they managed to get on. After finding Skinner’s daughter, Alula Nash, they gathered together what weapons and crew they could and began to fight back against their enemy. Unfortunately, by the time they forced the enemy to retreat, the Ivory Company’s base was in shambles and many were dead. Even Skinner had been severely injured and didn’t last more than a few days with his injuries. Leaving the Ivory Company to his daughter. It was after this event that Raldani knew it was time to strike out on her own. After saying goodbye to those she had been working with for so long, she took her credits, ship, and a couple of droids with her as she left Rishi for Nar Shaddaa. It didn’t take long before she made her way to Nar Shaddaa and started taking jobs while living out of her ship. After a couple of years doing this, she made her way to the Blaster’s Bastion, where she met Captain Dracazian Stormdragon and Tirvi Madee. These two would become the first non-droid friends she had since leaving the Ivory Company. This would eventually lead to her participating in a train heist. Unfortunately, she tried shooting an explosive round at a target and it, instead, blew up in her face. This left her with a permanent scar over her left eye and decreased sight in that same eye. After a few years, though, she would go blind in that eye. Now, after working in the Underworld for several years, she eventually met and fell in love with Zeddicus Arrowood, otherwise known as Darth Vulkan. They kept their relationship secret, for at first they didn’t even know what kind of relationship they had. Then, after a while, during a trip to make a formal alliance with the Ivory Company, Raldani discovered she was pregnant and decided to stay a few extra months until the child was born. When she finally gave birth, there was not one, not two, but three little babies. Two humans and one Mirialan, all with their father’s fiery red hair. With the intent to keep her new family safe, Raldani revealed to select individuals her secret of being the Phoenix. One being the former Darth Chadwick, now Alexander Basileus, who helped her find information on those who killed her parents and siblings. Lucky for her, the one who initiated it was already dead, the old Darth Drac’nox. Now she only had to take out the one who remained. With the agreement that he would help when she was ready, Raldani agreed to assist the Commonwealth in their fight against the Sith Cult, but she would do so as The Phoenix so that she could maintain her “neutral” appearance to her other clients and not put a larger target on her children’s heads. After hearing news of a new "emperor", Raldani decided to lay low, nearly disappearing off of peoples' radar to do some research. Upon gathering much intel as she could, she returned to Nar Shaddaa to follow a Commonwealth team into the Black Lodge to investigate further.
