Yzaric was born the youngest of three sons belonging to an affluent Rattataki family. Their mother was a fierce and strong-willed matriarch. Her word was law and, being from such an upstanding family, her power and influence was great. Every year, on their home planet of Ratattak, there was a grand gladiatorial event called the Blood of Suns where the eldest child of twenty five randomly selected families competed to the death. The winner would guarantee their family fame, money, and the resources needed to climb to the top. Not only that, but they would earn the right to challenge the current Rattataki leaders for a position of power. Yzaric’s mother was one of those winners. She had become infamous for the bloodthirsty, violent deaths she had delivered to her competitors. Since that fateful day, she had been challenged no less than seventeen times for her position and each and every one of those attempts had ended in the very public, gruesome deaths of those seeking to bring her down.
Safe to say, growing up in her family was cut-throat and dangerous. Each son born to her had a different father who would wind up mysteriously missing shortly after their births. As such, Yzaric grew up not knowing who his father had been and desperately wanting to impress his mother.
When it came time, Yzaric’s eldest brother entered the competition. Much was expected of him, but he brought shame on their family by being one of the first 10 killed in the ring. Ever since then, Yzaric and his remaining brother were subjected to harsher and more violent treatment at home, where they trained thirteen hours a day. It wasn’t uncommon for both of the boys to go to bed with bruises the size of melons and cracked or bruised bones. The abuse wasn’t only physical, but mental as well, with their mother whispering venomous lies about the other, causing the two boys, who had once been close when small, to turn on each other. The older the two got, the more violent and dangerous their attempts at sabotaging each other became, to the point where a deadly spare had left Yzaric severely wounded. Bleeding out and on the brink of death, Yzaric stole one of his mother’s spacecrafts. He had no idea how to fly. He punched in a random set of coordinates, figuring that he was dead either way. The ship took him far away, to a planet Yzaric had never heard of before. Voss. He crashed landed and blacked out. When he came to, Yzaric thought he was dead. He checked his wounds and found that he was healed. After a moment of relief, Yzaric sensed that something else was off. Something.. Someone… was residing in his head with him, fighting for space. The entity introduced itself as Sel-Makor. Yzaric wasn’t strong enough to fight the thing off, but as it spoke to him, he paused: it promised him power, strength, the ability to destroy his brother and take over his mother’s power. It offered him the ability to be something greater, and that was all he ever wanted. So he allowed it to reside within him. Sometimes he was more himself, sometimes he was more it, but it was a sacrifice he was willing to make for the sake of becoming something his mother would be proud of.
Unfortunately, training to use his newfound powers and abilities was not easy. Yzaric had to travel, to find the resources he needed to better himself before he went home to take on his brother. This, unfortunately, led him and his condition to be studied by various sith, who would offer Yzaric help only to confine him into cages and labs, to be poked and prodded and hooked up to various machines as they tried to study him and the being living in his mind. For two years he lived like this until he broke free, his mind more splintered than ever due to the experiments and tests he was subjected to.
He made his home in the ruined Jedi temple on Ossus, content to train there, though more often than not he just wiled away the days spooking those who wandered into the ruins. Until one day when a group of Commonwealth arrived, intent to excavate some lost artifact from deep within the library. Yzaric watched with amusement as they fought amongst themselves, but after the fight was over, he grew bored and went to sleep.
The next day, one member from the group, one who introduced himself as Alexander Basileus, offered to take Yzaric back to his company, to study Sel-Makor and see about gifting Yzaric strength and regenerative abilities. Yzaric took him up on this offer immediately. Gaining strength, enough so to go back and destroy his brother for what was done, was one of his only life goals. He spent weeks in a cave on Alex's property, waiting, training, and growing bored, however finally, the day had come. Alex took Yzaric into his lab and, through the process of Sith Alchemy, infused Anzatian DNA with Yzaric. Sel-Makor was not pleased at first, but with the success of the operation and the power that would be promised to both himself and Yzaric, he relented.
