Our RP officers are excited to assist you with this process and we invite you to think creatively and suggest any lore accurate ideas you may have! If you have an idea, but you are unsure how to implement it or unsure if it is allowed, please reach out to an RP mod or RP council member. Council and up has a completely open door policy, feel free to message any of us with questions, comments, concerns, or just say hi! (P.S. We love it when you say hi. ^-^)
The majority our roleplay is text based and hosted on the game Star Wars the Old Republic MMORPG. We organize our sessions through our Discord which you can join here.
Keep in mind:
To be able to participate in missions, you will need to have obtained your in-game personal starship. You will unlock this after completing the second planet in your class story arc. You however can roleplay within the Systems Commonwealth's many different roleplay locations (Guild Strongholds) or on Discord from as early as level 1 to begin your character's journey.
Your in-game class does not reflect your RP character. The in-game class will only limit you to what type of weapon you can visually use. It is not uncommon for players to have multiple alternate toons with multiple classes so that in certain situations they can pick up either a sniper rifle or a saber/vibroblade.
Don't let the game limit you! We accept unique humanoid species, so even though Arkanians or Zeltrons are not built into SWTOR, you can easily swing creating them using other species with certain colors of hair and skin. Wookieepedia Species List is a great resource for any questions on species or lore that you may have! Some species may be restricted and require education and time spent in the community roleplay for approval to play. Here is a guide on those restricted species.
The Systems Commonwealth
In our timeline, we are a third-party faction, separate from both the Republic and the Empire. After lawlessness and turmoil plagued the galaxy due to the Empire and Republic's constant conflict, the Commonwealth, under the guidance of Emperor Rhade and his High Council have successfully brought law and peace back to the galaxy.
You have two options to enter the diverse forces of The Systems Commonwealth:
Force Academy: The Commonwealth teaches all aspects of the Force to all ages, so you'll be able to find a Master here that suits your worldview. Whether you prefer to use your emotions as a conduit for your power or learn to reign them in to stay clear headed, we believe neither is good or evil, only your intentions and actions can dictate your morality.
Mandalorians: Our Mandalorian Clan, Aliit Si'komir, is more than just a group preserving Mandalorian heritage. They have fully integrated into Commonwealth society while maintaining their traditions. In addition to upholding their Mandalorian ways, they serve with our military's special forces to train our troops, making the Commonwealth Military one of the most highly trained in the galaxy, enriched by knowledge from multiple walks of life.
Military Special Forces: Growing up, you saw the brave individuals who fight to protect the Commonwealth and lifeforms across the galaxy. At some point, you joined them and became one of the best. You were invited to join the elite forces of the Commonwealth. The people who deal with coordinating galactic affairs and missions. Congratulations, soldier.
Underworld: Every society has its underbelly. That's you. You do what you want, when you want and regulations be damned. You still believe in the principles of the Commonwealth; anti-speciesism, equity and equality for all, that kind of stuff. You just do it from outside the confines of the law. And who knows? You might even lead your own crew someday.
Mandalorians: Seeing the prowess of our Mandalorian Clan who trains against Force Users, actively working with them to find better ways to fight, you decided to join the clan that has fully integrated into The Commonwealth; the Aliit Si'komir.
Military Special Forces: Having proven you're one of the best in the galaxy, you met a group of Commonwealth defenders on your own mission. The circumstances therein have allowed you to defect or transfer to one of the most efficient fighting forces in the galaxy.
Underworld: Every society has its underbelly. That's you. You do what you want, when you want and regulations be damned. After dealing with the Underworld outside of the Commonwealth and seeing that there isn't honor among those thieves, you decide to be a part of something bigger. And who knows? You might even lead your own crew someday.
It is also possible to start out as a Commonwealth citizen with no Faction yet! You could be a merchant, a traveling cook, an archeologist or scientist! A doctor!
The only limit is your creativity.
You can use a pre-existing character if you would like. Names are important for roleplay immersion. Names that have origins as canon characters or parodies will not be allowed. The goal is for you to create your own unique character and do your best to survive in the harsh Star Wars universe! If you have trouble thinking of a name, you can find a Star Wars name generator here or contact our officers for a brainstorming session!
You are allowed to bring in pre-existing characters from other roleplays and or guilds! Speak with a Roleplay Moderator for details.

Background & Affiliations
Place of Birth: Glee Anslem
Place of birth is the first step to figuring out your backstory. Did your character grow up in a desert? A tundra? A jungle? A forest? An ocean? A large city? What kind of native environment made your character who they are? Was your planet going through war? Was it a time of peace? Did you live with your parents? Were you an orphan? As a child, did you experience a life of poverty? Were you middle class? Were you more than well off? Was everything handed to you but recently ripped away? Each character will naturally have their own quirks, habits, and mannerisms. Try to pick some out and keep them in mind for your characters biography at the end.
Pro tip: If you pick a planet that is in game, you can visit in character for nostalgia! You can also use planets in game as a representation specific roleplay event or scene one could always pretend that the in game world of Manaan is the vast water world of Glee Anslem instead! Which in this particular case makes sense because it is the homeworld of many Nautolans!
It is possible through roleplay experience to learn more later down the road. This is a translator resource that we like to use for immersion. It is by no means required!
All languages must make sense with your character, they must have a reason for knowing this language.
In the case of Ide after crippling an off-world poacher, attempted to convince the man out of his wicked ways. While doing so the poacher began to tell Ide stories of their past experiences off-world and how large, big the galaxy is. It sparked his repressed adventurous nature which caused Ide saved up through tireless work in order to purchase a small starship - where he made his way to Nar Shaddaa. The naïve, young Nautolan did not know what he was getting into and almost immediately after arriving on the smuggler's moon his ship was stolen! Ide was forced to make a living, taking any job that he could in an attempt to get off Nar Shaddaa. Before he knew it - he found himself working for the Hutts as a bouncer for a local night club regularly, getting trapped in the never-ending cycle of the working man.
Languages: Basic, Huttese
Force Alignment: Neutral
Not every character is Force sensitive and we aim to build our system fairly so there is no advantage if your character is Force sensitive or not.
In the case of Ide he is Force sensitive but he has not yet discovered his gift! The spectrum of light to dark is not a strict three level thing. You can be neutral bordering on the edge of the dark side. The dark side symbolizes passion. If your character is very passionate - they are more likely to pull on Bogan energies. If your character tends to stay calm and rational, with a heavy sense of duty and justice they will tend to lean towards the Light-side, Ashla energies. How you explain this is up to you. In Ide's case he does have occasional passionate emotion but due to his peaceful nature he keeps a calm head.
Character Alignment: Neutral Good
Character alignment is different than Force alignment. It is the summary of your characters personality. Here is a resource for character alignments. It even has a quiz!
Faction Affiliation: Underworld
These next three options are easy! Affiliation is the faction that your character is aligned with!
You can create one character per Faction, so there should be no need to switch Factions on a character. However, characters grow and change, so if you think a Faction switch is the best choice for your character, please contact an RP Moderator.
Occupation: Bouncer
Other duties are things that your character does on the side! Perhaps you are a Systems CommonWealth Padawan and while your affiliation would be "The Systems CommonWealth" and your occupation would be: "Systems Commonwealth Padawan" perhaps your character donates their money to a hospital on the side where they volunteer at! That would another duty.. For Ide, he only has one other goal in mind.
Other Duties: Trying to get the kriff off of Nar Shaddaa
You may already have had some basic training in the Force either by a real player from a previous Roleplay or by an NPC due to the backstory you have created! This is where you would fill out that information. Remember that mentors can be anyone from a family member to a comrade. If you learned much from that person and looked up to them in character! They were your mentor! In Ide's case, he has not had any formal training in the Force. I am leaving them in for the reference of the guide but I would delete it from my character bio because it is not relevant.
Commonwealth Masters:
Jedi Masters:
Sith Masters:
Mentors: Ide's Father and Mother
When creating a new character I like to leave the "alive family" part relatively open because it can be VERY fun if you get another roleplayer to RP the character rather then it being an NPC.
Alive Family: Father, Mother, two younger brothers
Because Ide has a little bit of experience with fighting, protecting wildlife from poachers and minor job experience in the criminal underworld it would not make sense for me to give him a detailed martial art. Remember to stay logical about your character and as realistic as possible!
Hand-to-Hand Styles: Basic hand to hand
He has no experience in lightsaber forms or force forms! Take this out and instead use Weapon Experience.
Mastered Lightsaber Forms:
Mastered Force Forms:
He has javelin throwing experience due to his previous life as a protector against poachers! Being underwater javelins were his weapon of choice! He began to learn how to use a blaster after his time being stuck on Nar Shaddaa.
Weapon Experience: Javelin throwing, Light blaster training
This is the basic weaponry you are allowed to choose from at Tier 0. We do have a credit system with an in character shop! After you complete missions you can earn more gear and or credits that you can use to buy more gear! Make sure to speak to a Roleplay Moderator about the details of the in character shop. Make sure that your weapon makes sense for your character. In this case... for Ide he would have a light blaster. He would not have a rebreather because he is Nautolan I would choose a grapple hook instead of a rebreather because he can already breath underwater! But that still will make him vulnerable to gas and other means of suffocation.
Weaponry and Misc Items: Med pack, comlink, datapad. (Grapple hook OR rebreather only pick one.)
You may pick your weapon, it's a good idea to link to the weapon on Wookieepedia or on the Roster's equipment page.
Weaponry and Misc Items: Med pack, comlink, datapad, grapple hook, DH-17 blaster pistol
Always start out small! Your character is just beginning, or rebuilding. It's no fun to start out with awesome things! Earn them in character! Get all of that character development! Ide is barely making it by right now which is why I have used my logic and have given him very basic starting gear.
Armor: Worn Leather Armor
Undercover Attire: A dark cloak
The only Force abilities we allow people to start off without earning them with are these specific Tier 0 abilities which consist of: Awareness (Sense) / Sight / Barrier / Shield / Jump, Speed, Telekinesis.
Ide has not yet discovered any of his Force potential! He has not been pushed to any sort of limit where he has needed to draw on his innate power, yet!
Force Abilities:
Novice: N/A
Adept: N/A
Expert: N/A
Mastered: N/A
The next part is all just for a little bit of fun! It's good to add little quirks to your character to give them depth! Remember to think about your characters backstory that you have been developing! Remember that you can change things to suit your character! For Ide I am going to simply put Hidden Talent: as well as Well Known Fact: and take out Hidden potentially silly talents or well known facts:
Hidden potentially silly talents or well known facts:
Hidden Talent: To save his sanity, he learned to play the Xantha
Well Known Fact: He has an awkward smile
Likes: Kindness, Animals, Fruit, Veggies, Adventure
Dislikes: Cruelty, Poachers, Meat, Crime, Alcohol
Here is a site that lists all types of Star Wars music genres
Favorite Genre of Music: Folk music
Check out the fruit, vegetable meat and drink Star Wars category list we use!
Favorite Food/Drink: Sea Cabbage, Kopi Tea,
Kindest Act: Personally went out of his way to help the poachers who ended up locked up in prison reform their ways.
Evilest Act: Took a bribe in a very desperate time on Nar Shaddaa to look the other way. He did not know what he was looking away from but it still made him feel dirty.
Now it is time to condense everything you have created about your character's story into one area!
Biography
Write a couple paragraphs about your characters childhood, how they grew up and how they got to where they are. Ide Vrass grew up on Glee Anslem in a very, very peaceful serene environment. He was raised by his loving father and mother who taught him to care for the living greatly. From a young age he had an affinity with animals, they naturally trusted him due to his calm nature. As he grew into his teens he began to study the art of Javelin throwing with his father, who protected the district that they lived in from off world poachers. Ide picked the skill up quickly and by the age of 14 he was on the field with his father arresting those with their civilian right, against all that would seek to harm the local wildlife. Ide after crippling an off-world poacher, attempted to convince the man out of his wicked ways. While doing so the poacher began to tell Ide stories of their past experiences off-world and how large, big the galaxy is. It sparked his repressed adventurous nature and Ide saved up through tireless work in order to purchase a small starship - where he made his way to Nar Shaddaa. The naïve, young Nautolan did not know what he was getting into and almost immediately after arriving on the smugglers moon his ship was stolen! Ide was forced to make a living, taking any job that he could in an attempt to get off Nar Shaddaa. Before he knew it - he found himself working for the Hutts as a bouncer for a local night club regularly, getting trapped in the never ending cycle of the working man. His co-workers refuse to call him by his actual name, only referring to him as "Wechpomh bukee" Fishboy in Huttese. He despises it. Feel free to put a picture of your character in at the beginning! It can be a drawing you have done or a screenshot from in game! If you use fanart make sure to never take the credit for yourself.
